Help & FAQ

Common questions. Can't find what you need? Email support@theyardapps.com.

Getting started

How do I start a workout?

Tap Start Workout on the Home screen. The app pre-fills time, body focus, and energy based on your last session and last night's sleep. Tap through or adjust, then Start. If you want a one-tap workout instead, tap your equipment preset from the Quick Start cards to drop straight into an active session.

What's "Today's Workout"?

A smart default for the Quick Start picker. It rotates your body focus (upper→lower→upper), reuses your last session's time budget, and drops to a Recovery Session when you logged less than 5 hours of sleep. You can override any of it with one tap.

Subscription & billing

What does DadGainz Premium include?

Unlimited AI Coach messages, unlimited AI-generated workouts, and multi-week AI Program Builder. Also removes the lifetime caps on weekly recaps. The manual workout tracker, exercise library, progression suggestions, custom workout builder, and all habit features are free.

How much is it?

$6.99/month or $49.99/year (40% off — works out to about $4.17/month).

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed by Google Play. Open Google Play > your profile picture > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, or go directly to play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Access continues until the end of your current billing period.

Can I get a refund?

Refund policy is controlled by Google Play. You can request a refund within 48 hours of purchase via Play. After 48 hours, Google will evaluate case-by-case.

I subscribed on my phone. Will it work on another device?

Yes — Premium is tied to your Google account, not your device. Reinstall the app and your subscription will automatically restore. If it doesn't, use Settings → Restore purchases.

I canceled. Will I lose my data?

No. Your workouts, history, photos, saved custom workouts, and settings stay on your device. You just can't generate new AI workouts, chat with Coach, or access multi-week programs until you resubscribe.

Data & privacy

Where is my data stored?

On your device, in local storage. We don't have user accounts or servers holding your workouts, photos, or personal info. See Privacy Policy.

Is my data sent to the AI provider?

Only when you actively use an AI feature, and only a limited summary (recent workouts, fitness level, equipment). Never your name, photos, full history, or device info. See the AI Disclosure for the full list.

How do I delete everything?

In the app: Settings → Delete All Data. This wipes workouts, progression, AI chats, saved programs, reminders, and settings. The action is irreversible. Alternatively, uninstalling the app removes all local data per your operating system's standard behavior.

Can I export my workouts?

Yes — Settings → Export PDF generates a PDF of your workout history, personal records, and weight trend.

Using the app

Why is the AI Coach refusing to answer my question?

The Coach is scoped to training questions only. Questions about medication, medical diagnosis, injury treatment, specific macro numbers, or most supplements are redirected to qualified professionals by design. If you're hitting a soft block on a training topic that feels over-cautious, please email us with the question and we'll improve the filter.

The AI generated a workout I really liked. Can I save it?

Yes — open it from History and tap Save as Custom Workout. Saving AI-generated sessions requires Premium. Manually built workouts and Real Life / Mobility sessions save freely.

My workout suggests exercises I don't have equipment for.

Check Profile → Edit Profile → Equipment and pick the preset that matches your setup (Bodyweight / Dumbbells + Bench / Full Gym). The AI Coach and Quick Start generator filter exercises to match what you own.

Can I sync with Apple Health / Health Connect?

Not currently in the v1 release — we found the integration flaky during testing and pulled it pending a polish pass. It's on the roadmap.

Does DadGainz work on an Apple Watch or Wear OS?

Not yet. Phone-only for now.

Safety

Is the AI Coach a medical professional?

No. The AI Coach is a training assistant. It cannot diagnose, treat, or prescribe. If you're recovering from an injury or have a chronic condition, consult a doctor or physical therapist before following any AI-generated advice.

What if I feel pain during a workout?

Stop. The app filters out unsafe exercises when you tell it about injuries, but it cannot detect pain you don't report. Stop the workout, rest, and see a qualified professional if pain persists.
